The game is tiny, but a few technical details can trip you up, especially when you’re chasing the true ending or the secret achievement. This page collects everything that affects how the game plays on your PC.

Mouse and Keyboard vs Controller

Reviewers who tried a controller reported that the buttons on the pad did not match the prompts shown on screen. Because the minigames are so simple, the fix is easy: put the controller down and use the mouse. Nothing in the game benefits from analog input.

There is a second reason to stay on the keyboard. The final secret puzzle requires you to type a code on one of the ending screens. With a controller-only setup you will get stuck at that step.

Why Your Audio Matters

Most games let you mute the music without losing anything. Not this one. After the first ending, if you stay on the final screen, a strange screeching sound plays that players compared to an old dial-up modem. That sound is a piece of the Oxytocin puzzle. If your system is muted, or you click away too fast, you will never hear it.

Keep the in-game and Windows volume up.
Avoid audio enhancers or “night mode” compression, which can distort the signal if you plan to record it.

Finding the Game Folder

Some players dig into the installation folder to look for clues; one of them discovered where the secret message is stored by reading the game’s language file. To open the folder:

Open your Steam Library.
Right-click the game and choose Manage.
Select Browse local files.

Treat the folder as read-only. Editing or deleting files can break your save or your achievements, and you don’t need to touch anything there to get 100%.

Replaying Cleanly

The whole design depends on playing more than once. A few habits make repeat runs painless:

Relaunch the game between runs if you want a fresh start at the opening question.
Don’t rush the opening. The Alice question is where the refusal achievements live, so decide your plan before clicking.

Achievement Not Unlocking?

All six achievements are hidden, so it’s easy to think one is bugged when you simply missed a condition. The 100% Achievement Guide lists every requirement. Check these first:

Honesty and Too much honesty: both require refusing to be Alice Print. The second needs three refusals.
Rummager: you need to open every note in the trash bin, not just most of them. Check the bin again after each ending.
Oxytocin: it triggers only when you actually read the secret message, not when you solve the code.
Return true: you must deliberately fail all three love tests on the same run.

If the condition is definitely met, try these general Steam fixes:

Make sure Steam is online and not in offline mode.
Close the game fully and relaunch it, then repeat the step.
Right-click the game, choose Properties, then Installed Files and Verify integrity of game files.
Enable the Steam overlay so achievement pop-ups can display.

Language Settings

The game supports English, Japanese, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian and Simplified Chinese. If you’re following an English guide, play in English. The secret puzzle involves reading notes closely, and a translated version can make it harder to match what you see with guide descriptions.

Accessibility Notes

The game is very approachable, but a few details are worth knowing if you play with specific needs:

Reading pace. Text advances when you click, so you can read at your own speed. Nothing times out during the story sections.
Color and pattern. The dress test asks you to match a requested color and pattern. Players with color vision deficiency can lean on the pattern to narrow the options, and failing this test is part of one ending anyway.
Timing. The heartbeat test is the only part with real timing pressure. If rhythm is difficult for you, remember that one of the two endings actually requires missing it.
Sound. Audio is important for atmosphere and essential for one secret. Players who can’t rely on hearing can still reach every ending, and the code for the secret is listed in the Oxytocin guide.

Can I play on Steam Deck? The game is built for Windows. Because one step requires typing a code, keep the on-screen keyboard handy or connect a keyboard.
Does it need an internet connection? The game itself doesn’t depend on one, but Steam achievements sync best online.
Can I skip the text? The game is short enough that reading everything is recommended. Many of the clues live in small lines you’d otherwise miss.
